Enigma Robotics Fundraiser - Raised $1300
Grand Rapids, Michigan: Team Enigma is comprised of 3 teams. One high school FRC team #2075 and two middle school FTC teams Puzzlers #5395 and Riddlers #5385. They are sponsored by West Catholic High School. FIRST Robotics is an international organization that structures competitions across the globe, giving kids a unique opportunity for hands on experience in planning, designing, building, and programming robots for competition. Matches start at the local level, advancing to state championships, regional championships and finally a world championship.
All this great opportunity requires funding for parts, travel expenses and entry fees. Teams must solicit corporate sponsorships, as well as, conduct fundraising programs.
In 2016, both Enigma FTC teams advanced to the North Super Regionals competition in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The entry fees alone were $1000. Team Enigma decided to create a T-Shirt Fundraising campaign to cover the entry fees, with a goal of selling 100 t-shirts to raise the $1000.
It was decided that a t-shirt must be designed to appeal to people even if they are not it robotics themselves. After jotting down a few ideas, the team agreed on the the theme "Life's A Robot. Deal With The Glitches". The kids, very aware that robots breakdown at the worst of times, felt the theme applied to life in general.

Pricing was set to $19.99 for the t-shirt with a campaign length of 21 days. To promote the fundraiser, the team used a combination of emailing and social sharing techniques. Emails were sent to their contact list, which included current and former team members and sponsors. Social sharing included Facebook & Twitter, with an emphasis on Facebook.
The campaign sales page includes social sharing links, which make this task very easy. Emails were sent weekly by the team manager and Facebook shares daily by team members. As the campaign neared the end, efforts were increased. Interesting to note is that 25% of the sales occurred in the last two days of the campaign.
